WHERE DO I START?
Start by opening a membership savings account at any GCU branch.
Here's what you'll need:
- Photo ID (ITIN and Matricula accepted).
If your ID shows an address outside of Santa Fe County, please also bring a pay stub or utility bill showing that you live or work in Santa Fe County.
- Cash or check to fund the account.
You'll need at least the $100.00 minimum balance plus the $1.00 once-in-a-lifetime membership fee. Youth accounts or accounts with Direct Deposit can open with as little as $5.00 and take 90 days to bring the balance up to the minimum.
That's it! That's all you need to become a member-owner of the credit union with access to all of our great products and services, as well as full voting rights.
VOTING RIGHTS?
That's right! Members have the power to elect your volunteer Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee to oversee the credit union and make decisions about how things are run. Elections are held at the Annual Meeting in the spring.
Every member gets one vote, regardless of how much money is in your account. (Primary members only—sorry, joint owners are not eligible to vote unless they have another account in their own name.)
GET INVOLVEDAny member in good standing age 18 or over is eligible to run for a position on the Board of Directors or Supervisory Committee. The Nominating Committee is always interested in hearing from potential candidates—if you would like to learn more about these volunteer positions, please contact us!
